Cosmic Elevator

At It Must Be Too Late, three exhibitions will be presented in Space 1, Space 2, and Space 3, beginning on October 16, 2026. Curated by Ayako Okonogi, the exhibitions use works by artists operating under the various aliases of Yuichiro Nakamura as their medium, taking the form of JPEG images created as graphic artworks. The three exhibitions are titled Cosmic Elevator, Holy Hamster, and Transcendental Jelly. These titles were coined by Okonogi as playful combinations of words with no particular necessity or inherent meaning. Whether or not the exhibitions are inspired by these words remains unclear. Instead, the curatorial process unfolds through a typographic sensibility. The exhibitions also adopt a work-in-progress format, in which images created as graphic artworks are uploaded as they are completed. Noah Kajiwara

Masaya Takashima

Photographer. On October 16, 2026, Takashima began Sukagawa, an ongoing project documenting everyday landscapes in Sukagawa, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, where he resides. Rather than focusing on famous landmarks or particular events, he photographs ordinary, unremarkable scenes. Through this practice, he aims to document and accumulate images of the local landscape over an extended period of time, creating a lasting archive of the area.
